Although Joong Ki's Arthdal Chronicles is set in ancient South Korea, the story takes place in the mysterious land of Arth, where he reunites with his Descendants of The Sun co-star, Kim Ji-won.

Accompanied by actors Kim Tae-Ri, Anupam Tripathi, and Kevin Dockry, among others, he and his team uncover a plethora of perilous secrets, among them the existence of a humanoid robot. Both its great production value and its diversity of cultures are praised for the film, which won multiple awards. Further more, for weeks, it was the most popular movie on Netflix's "Top 10" list.
